Tapered wrap dimensions are calculated from exact conical frustum geometry. Because blank tumblers vary by manufacturer batch, always print the free 1:1 paper test-fit strip and verify the 1-inch / 10-mm ruler before pressing sublimation transfers.

    Size table

20 oz skinny tumbler wrap size in inches, mm and pixels

The 20 oz skinny is the most-sold sublimation blank, and it comes in two bodies that look identical on a product photo. The straight body takes a plain rectangle. The tapered body narrows by a few millimetres toward the base and needs a curved sector, even though the curve is gentle. Both are computed below from the same engine as the workbench.

The 22 oz skinny sits in the table for comparison because buyers often confuse the two. It is about 0.77 in taller and slightly wider, so a 20 oz design stretched onto it loses its proportions. If a customer is unsure, ask for the height of the printable wall, not the ounces.

    Where 9.3 × 8.2 comes from

Why the straight standard is 9.3 by 8.2 inches

A straight 20 oz skinny wall is close to 74 mm across. Wrapped once, that is 9.15 in of paper, and a small overlap of 3.7 mm brings the width to 9.30 in so the seam never opens. The 8.2 in height is the printable band between the lid ring and the rounded base, about 208 mm on most bodies.

Those numbers are a starting point, not a law. Blanks from different factories differ by a millimetre or two in diameter, and each extra millimetre adds 3.1 mm of circumference. That is why the preset carries the formula rather than a fixed picture: change the diameter and the width follows exactly, while the height and overlap stay where you set them.

    Pixels and DPI

Pixels, DPI and how big to make your canvas

Sublimation printers expect 300 dots per inch at the size you press. The readout converts the cut bounding box to pixels with that rule, rounding to the nearest pixel, and the free warped PNG carries a 300 DPI tag (pHYs 11811 pixels per metre) so print dialogs place it at the right size without manual scaling.

    How to use it

Making a 20 oz skinny wrap that closes cleanly

    1. Choose straight or tapered

Measure rim and base. Under 1 mm apart, keep Straight; otherwise tap Tapered and the sector replaces the rectangle.

    2. Set the overlap

Use 0.25 in for most straight skinnies; the cyan band shows where the end of the print lands.

    3. Test on paper

Print the test-fit PDF at 100 %, check the rulers, wrap it and tape the seam before you waste sublimation paper.

    4. Export the file

Download the SVG for Canva or Cricut, or warp your art into a 300 DPI PNG for the tapered body.

    FAQ

    Questions makers ask

What is the standard 20 oz skinny tumbler wrap size?

For a straight 20 oz skinny the common print size is 9.3 × 8.2 in, which is 2790 × 2460 px at 300 DPI. That equals a 74 mm wall diameter wrapped once plus 3.7 mm of seam overlap, by 208.3 mm of printable height. Measure your batch, because some blanks run a millimetre wider.

How do I tell a straight 20 oz skinny from a tapered one?

Measure around the rim and around the base with a soft tape. If the two circumferences differ by less than about 1 mm the blank is straight and a rectangle works. A tapered 20 oz usually measures about 9.03 in at the top and 8.16 in at the bottom, and needs the curved template instead.

Does the 9.3 × 8.2 in wrap print on Letter paper?

Yes, in landscape. Letter is 11 × 8.5 in, and after a 3 mm printer margin on each edge the printable height is about 8.26 in, just enough for 8.2 in. Adding 2 mm of bleed pushes it to 8.36 in, which no longer fits, so the straight preset defaults to no bleed.

How much overlap stops the white line at the seam?

A quarter inch is the usual answer for straight 20 oz skinnies. Set the overlap to 0.25 in and the template widens from 9.30 to 9.40 in, about 2821 px at 300 DPI. Tape the overlapping end on top so any colour shift sits under the tape, not in the middle of the design.

Which pixel size should I use in Canva or Procreate?

Create the canvas at the 300 DPI pixel size in the readout: 2790 × 2460 px for the straight standard. For a tapered 20 oz, design on a rectangle of about 2755 × 2467 px, then warp it with the image warp tool so the top edge lands on the wide rim of the sector.
